Hands down one of my favorite seafood restaurants in Queens. The seafood is fresh, well prepared and seasoned, and decently priced. Once you get into the restaurant, at the back, there's a whole section of seafood that you can pick and choose how to cook it. We mostly chose grilled. We got: - shrimp (5/5) garlicky and juicy, a must get! - scallop (4/5) love the taste, good but nothing too surprising - fish (5/5) delicious! - fried calamari (4/5) crispy on the outside and tender in the inside

Stumbled upon this lovely, modestly sized restaurant in the Little Egypt section of Astoria. On Steinway Street there are lots of ethnic restaurants and many do not survive. Competition is fierce. We initially headed for one that was recommended by The NY Times just two years ago and found it closed so we ventured on, stopping at this restaurant which was nearly full with patrons. We started with a delicious Greek salad with lemon, dill, feta and a generous portion of avocado. On to a grilled octopus starter that was exceptionally tender and delicately seasoned. Baba Ghanoush followed with a puffed pita bread served hot. For entrees, you select the fresh fish that you want and decide how you want them to cook it. We picked branzino and dorado. One blackened Egyptian grilled, the other grilled with lemon and oil. Three words describe what makes this restaurant special .....fresh, fresh, fresh! The branzino was lightly stuffed with onions, red pepper and herbs including cilantro and parsley. The skin was rubbed with cumin and wheat flour. The fish was cooked to perfection, moist and tender but thoroughly cooked. We were so stuffed we boxed the dorado to take home. Service was attentive and friendly. Ambiance - basic, no frills, simple and clean. Pricing reasonable. We decided that this is a restaurant to come to again and again.

I came here at the end of summer with my husband and son for a seafood night - and wow what a phenomenal hole in the wall!! When you walk in, they have a variety of seafood on ice - we ordered a whole branzino (blackened), shrimp (with garlic and lemon), and calamari (fried), along with their rice and dips. We did not have a single bad bite!!! The food was so incredible and so fresh - you can tell the quality of the food was very high. I felt like I was in Europe! I removed a point because the bathroom was absolutely filthy and the wait staff was not the most attentive - I'd definitely come back for the food though, maybe takeout!

The seafood here is so fresh and the seasoning they use is delicious! The only reason I'm knocking off a star is because it can be quite pricey, but you do get what you pay for on quality. You start by going to the fresh seafood counter and picking out what you want and how you want it cooked. Then you get seated at one of their few tables since the space is pretty small and casual. Aside from the seafood, make sure you also order their Egyptian rice - it's so flavorful with seasonings. The food also came out so fast. My group of 5 was done eating within 45 min of sitting down!

Great seafood, simple and delicious! We loved the scallops. We got the shrimp, octopus, and whole fish, everything was amazing! We came on a Saturday around opening and there was no wait. Ordering is simple, you will pick the seafood type and how you want it cooked. We also got a salad and baba ganouj for some variety. Food came out quickly.

This place is truly an unique experience. When you walk in, you are directed to be seated at your spot but you have to go up to the front counter with fresh seafood on display to make your order. What you see is what is available for the day. The process can be confusing as the instructions aren't written anywhere and this place seems to always be busy. The seafood aren't labeled nor priced so you will have to ask the staff how much everything is when making decision on your selection. They also ask you how much as well and how you like it prepared. You better be prepared before going up to the counter because you can only put in your order once per table. (I think this is to encourage faster dining experience since their seating space can't accommodate many?). Food: 10/10 The food was amazing! The seafood tasted so fresh and was packed with flavor. We love the seasoning mix they used for the octopus. Our table saved it and used it to dipped the other seafood we ordered. I highly encourage coming with a group of 4 so you can try all the different seafood family style. We also got scallops, fried calamari, fish, seafood stew, shrimp and a side of hummus, rice, and eggplant. They also provide complimentary pita bread. It's a seafood paradise! Ambiance: 6/10 The seating areas were crowded and limited but that's because it's a small restaurant. However, I did not like how chaotic it felt seated inside as people are constantly getting up to place their order and the waiter was so busy delivering to multiple tables. I would recommend sitting outside for more peace if the weather is nice. Service: 6/10 This place was so busy during dinner time. It was difficult to get the waiter's attention at times. They also did not explain their menu well. We were constantly confused on what items are available to order as sides (the dips, rice, etc.) and how much or whether we would be charged for it or not. I don't like how not transparent this place is on their price. It would be so helpful if they created a brochure or menu describing their system. They probably have a high number of old and returning customers - but some descriptions would be nice for the new customers. The octopus was one of the best bite of octopus I had. Even with the chaotic dining experience, I still find this place worth making a trip just to eat here. We have been informing all our friends about this place and can't wait to come back again.

Super fresh Egyptian seafood restaurant in Astoria! They don't have a menu- you just go up to the counter, choose the seafood and tell them how you want it cooked (fried, grilled, blackened). The price is based on weight. Very fair pricing. It's a small restaurant with outdoor seating. There was no wait on a weeknight. Would come back here for my next seafood craving!

Everything was incredible! You can't go wrong. Order whatever looks good and pick what style you want it to be cooked in :) Besides the seafood, would highly recommend getting the stew and salad - provided some good balance for the meal. Service is quick and ambiance fits the vibe perfectly.

I briefly saw someone post on their social media about this spot and I knew I had to come. I went with a couple of friends for a weekend afternoon lunch. The place was full but we managed to get indoor seats for a party of 4 immediately. Once you're seated, you order your seafood by weight and tell them how you want them cooked. You can only order seafood from the counter once, they don't let you go back up and reorder additional seafood. They don't give you a menu (you can look it up online prior to coming) to order sides. All the seafood was fresh, cooked PERFECTLY and sides were also very delicious. After getting home, we saw that their popular way to make the fish was blackened - we ordered it baked (it was still really good!). Def will be back!

What a great idea to visit this place. It's absolutely no frills but very efficient. So how it works is this - You go in and ask for a table (inside or outside). Tbh if you are wondering if inside will smell like fish, it surprisingly doesn't. After you are seated you go to the seafood "bar" and take your pick of the catch. They weigh the catch and make it how you want - fried, grilled etc. there are some "rules" like smaller fish is only fried, calamari min order is two etc. Everything is fresh and looks fresh too! Once you order you come back to your table and order a drink and sides. I mean I would not order the avocado salad for $16 again but it was pretty decent. We also got a couple of sodas and a side of brown rice (says Egyptian rice). Now let's get to the good stuff - we got the 1. Shrimp - fresh shrimp that is grilled in butter and garlic is one of my favorites and they did not disappoint. It was also off the shells so win win 2. Calamari - beautifully fried. Tip- ask for a hot sauce and they will bring this Jamaican ground pepper sauce thing that really elevates the fried squid 3. Octopus - You can't go wrong with fresh seafood. Came in a beautiful garlicky sauce thing - really well grilled, a tad charred just how I wanted 4. Mahi-mahi (it was a diff name but they said mahi mahi was a close enough translation) - nicely grilled again. The skin was charred and beautiful to eat. It was a nice juicy flaky fish, no complaints 5. Scallops - let me start by saying I am well aware of how hard making scallops perfect is. And they were spot on! Not a second more, not a second less Service is prompt! Everything is super clean provided they are dealing with raw seafood barely a few feet away - no smell, nothWill definitely go back and will probably try the some more stuff :)
